I’ve just complete a spin totalling 600gs of a singles yarn, self striping. I first dyed the 50% merino / 50 % silk fibre in a striped colour pattern. The fibre was then stripped down lengthways to keep the blocks of colour in tact. I pre drafted the fibre so that I would be able keep the amount twist as low as possible going onto the bobbin. To finish the yarn it was then given a slight fulling, that’s a small amount of felting that has helped to knit all the fibres together.
