Silk Noil, what is it and how to use it

Silk noil, is produced from the short fibres left over from the silk spinning process. These fibres are less uniform and shorter compared to the fibres used in silk fabrics or combed tops. Silk noil has a slightly nubby texture and a matte appearance, making it less lustrous than other silks but is characterised by its soft, slightly slubby feel and is valued for the unique texture it can add to drum carded batts or hand carded fibre for spinning.

Silk noil can be prepared in a number of different ways, I’ll be updated this page with a number of videos to give you some ideas.
